Boardmatch, in association with Irish Public Bodies will be hosting its annual National Federations of Ireland event on the 15th of February in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). The event is tailored towards Chairs and CEOs and is a unique opportunity for not-for-profit Federations to connect with others in the sector.
We are thrilled to announce that this year, our guest speakers are Dame Suzi Leather, Chair of the Charity Commission for England and Wales and Brian O’Gorman, President of the Irish Council for Social Housing and Chief Executive of Cluíd Housing Association. The theme guiding their discussion will be ‘What Role in Governance do the National Federations play with their Members?’

Dame Suzi Leather was appointed Chair of the Charity Commission in 2006- the independent regulatory body for charities in England and Wales.
She is a highly esteemed figure in the science sector and in 2006, was awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2006 Queen’s New Years Honours List for her services. Prior to her role as Chair for the Charity Commission, Dame Suzi Leather has held the position of Chair with some of the UK’s top charitable organisations, most notable of which are the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and the School Food Trust as well as being first Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency. Suzi was also awarded a MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1994 for her services to agriculture and food safety.
Brian O’Gorman has enjoyed a long and successful career in housing. Brian joined Cluíd Housing Association in 1995 as its first employee and Chief Executive. Since 1995, Brian has been a pivotal figure in the rapid growth of Cluíd which is now one of the largest housing associations in Ireland. Brian was elected President of the Irish Council for Social Housing in October 2011.
Prior to his posts as President of the Irish Council for Social Housing and Chief Executive of Cluíd, Brian worked with Threshold, the housing advice agency and Focus Point working with families out of home. Brian was also a member of Dublin City Council Housing Strategic Policy Committee for eight years.
