The Chair of the Charity Commission for England and Wales has said that marketing messages that “trumpet low or minimal overheads” can be “counter-productive”, Civil Society reported.
Speaking to an audience of UK charity leaders, Dame Suzi Leather spoke on the need for charities to make funders aware of the running costs of charites.
The Chair urged that a paradigmatic shift needed to take place in the way funders viewed investing in charities. She said that whilst funders often looked for immediate return on investment, it was up to the charitiy to educate on the necessity of running costs and to promote the notion of ‘slow charity’ and long term investment.
