The voluntary sector in Ireland generates huge revenue and some 30% of national GDP is captured within the not-for-profit sector. Unusually in international terms the sector receives 65% of its funding from the State.
There are over 27,000 not-for-profit organisations in Ireland, each needing varying degrees of assistance with all aspects of their business and governance. In response to the number of requests Boardmatch has created the as a means of providing organisations with access to skills to support to their boards.
Boardmatch Portal provides a doorway for individuals, partnerships and companies to offer their services to the not-for-profit sector. The individuals/companies pay a small fee to register their services on line, which in turn creates some income for Boardmatch to be able to continue offering its basic service of online matching for FREE.
Membership Benefits:
- As a member of the Boardmatch Portal you/your company will be joining a network of people who are actively promoting and implementing good governance through training and the services it offers to the boards of management of not-for-profits.
- Dedicated membership liaison officer within Boardmatch to help manage your membership.
- Official welcome and recognition of joining through the Governance Ezine.
- Membership is on an annual basis. Each member can nominate someone who will receive documentation and access to the website.
- Automatic inclusion and invitation to high quality, relevant events for board level personnel and senior management nominees.

- Access to a network of contacts comprising sectoral and specialist personnel
- Invitations to speak at Boardmatch events and a reduced cost to attend other events.

- Opportunity to contribute articles for ‘Governance’ the Ezine of Boardmatch; this will demonstrate your expertise, your analytical powers, your ability to convey information in a manner that is usable by the voluntary sector.

- Boardmatch will produce an annual report detailing the activity of the consultants register, numbers, activity, articles, training completed and consultancy delivered.
Becoming a member of the Boardmatch Portal:
Banding of annual membership of the register would be based on ability to pay but would be run along the following lines:
Sole trader: €200 + VAT
Partnership: €750 + VAT
Large Corporates €2000+ VAT
Start up Company €150 + VAT
The Portal will become a “go to” location for not for profit organisations looking for specific support at board level, therefore the entry criteria of companies and individuals registering is essential to ensure the quality of the service.
All organisations wishing to be a member of the portal should have the following:
- Professional indemnity insurance.
- Provide the qualifications of the principal staff leading projects and details of any other staff they may use.
- Work history or successful projects of the last three years (this can include work carried out prior to the current employment).
- Submission of the most recent annual return.
- An interview with Boardmatch Staff.
Application has to go before the board of Boardmatch, with a report prepared by the executive staff.
